We are happy to share our recently published paper on “3D-Printed Coil Immobilized Enzyme Reactors for Laccase Biocatalysis”, published in Chemie Ingenieur Technik on 28 January 2026. The study was carried out by Alina J. Tauriainen and Alexander S. Sommer-Behr from Prof. Norbert Kockmann’s lab, in cooperation with the Bioprocess Engineering chair of Prof. Stephan Lütz, with contributions from Julian Handke. The work shows how surface functionalization, reactor geometry and two phase Taylor flow significantly enhance catalytic performance in continuous flow biocatalysis.

The research paper „3D investigation and modeling of the geometric effects on porosity in packed beds“, by Bastian Oldach, Konrad Boettcher, Alexander Sommer-Behr, and Norbert Kockmann was published in AIChE Journal on January 28, 2026. This paper reports on the inhomogeneous porosity profiles that result from geometric effects on monodisperse packed beds in cylindrical and cubic arrangements. Special focus is given to the influence of edges and corners in cubic geometries.
