This year, the Laboratory of Equipment Design had the opportunity to attend the 5th Micro Flow and Interfacial Phenomena (µFIP) Conference, held at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The conference brought together researchers from diverse fields, including phase change and single-phase heat transfer, multiphase flow, biochemical and biomedical engineering, and micro flow processes, with a focus on energy applications involving microchannel flow and microscale surface phenomena.
Bastian Oldach gave two presentations: Additive Manufacturing of TPMS Microlattices for Enhanced Fluid Mixing and Catalyst Loading in the Micro/Nano-Fluidics track, and 3D Investigation of Microchannel Geometries for Droplet and Bubble Formation Using Artificial Intelligence in the Numerical Methods track. Alina Tauriainen presented her work on 3D-Printed Microreactors with Biocatalytic Coating for Heterogeneous Catalysis, also in the Micro/Nano-Fluidics track.
Overall, the conference offered great opportunities for scientific exchange within a collaborative community.
