Curriculum Vitae

Sophia Hamelbeck began her studies in Biochemical Engineering at TU Dortmund in 2017. In cooperation with Bayer CropScience and INVITE, she completed her bachelor’s thesis “Experimental Study for the Development of an Experimental Setup for Droplet Generation in the Micrometer Range” at the Laboratory of Fluid Dynamics. After graduating, she worked as a process engineer at BIDECO AG in Switzerland, where she was involved in the planning of biochemical and pharmaceutical production plants.
In 2022, she returned to TU Dortmund to pursue a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, which she completed two years later. Her master’s thesis “Investigation of the Property Profile of Cross-Linked, Oriented-Crystallized High-Density Polyethylene” was conducted at the Chair of Biomaterials and Polymer Science.
Following a few months abroad, Sophia joined the Laboratory of Equipment Design as a research associate. She is currently working on the development of a virtual reality model of a chemical production plant, intended to support undergraduate students in their studies.
